Launching the LLO Caribbean Platform
Some projects are exciting because of their scale. Others because of their impact. LLO Caribbean was both.
When the team at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) started developing the initiative, they needed a technical partner who could bring their vision to life. The goal was to create a digital platform that would bring together educational programs from multiple universities and make them easily accessible for people across the Caribbean islands.
That’s when they found WebSloth. From that moment on, our team took on the challenge of designing and developing the entire platform; from the visual identity to the full technical infrastructure. And we had just one and a half months to make it happen.
The Vision Behind LLO Caribbean
The idea behind LLO Caribbean is rooted in the concept of lifelong learning; the belief that education doesn’t stop after formal schooling, but continues throughout a person’s life as they develop new professional and personal skills.
In a rapidly changing world where industries evolve quickly and new skills are constantly needed, access to continuous education is becoming more important than ever.
The platform aims to support professionals across the Caribbean by creating a single place where they can discover educational programs offered by partner universities. The initiative brings together institutions such as:
- The Hague University of Applied Sciences
- Utrecht University
- The University of Curaçao
- The University of Aruba
Together, they are working toward a shared goal: making professional development and education more accessible across the region.
Taking Ownership of the Platform
When we joined the project, WebSloth took full responsibility for the digital side of the platform. This meant building everything from the ground up. We handled the complete design, branding, and development of the platform, ensuring that it would be both visually engaging and technically robust.
One of the first steps was defining the visual identity of the platform. We explored different color palettes and design directions to find a look that would feel professional, approachable, and representative of the collaboration between multiple universities.
At the same time, we focused heavily on usability. The platform needed to be simple and intuitive for professionals browsing for programs, while also being powerful enough behind the scenes to support multiple institutions managing their own content.
Designing a Platform That Connects Universities
A key goal of the platform was to create a central hub for educational opportunities. Instead of professionals needing to browse multiple university websites, they can now visit one platform and explore the available programs in one place. The platform allows users to browse and compare programs, explore detailed descriptions, and follow links to register through the institutions offering them.
Behind the scenes, we also built a management system that allows administrators from different universities to manage their programs from one centralized environment.
This was an important part of the project. Because several universities are involved, the platform needed to support multiple stakeholders while still keeping the system organized and easy to maintain.
The result is a platform that is flexible enough to grow as more programs and institutions join the initiative.
Building It All in Just 1.5 Months
Perhaps the biggest challenge of the project was the timeline. From the first conversations to the final launch, the entire platform was designed and built in just six weeks. Delivering a project of this scale in such a short time required tight collaboration, rapid iteration, and a team that could move fast without compromising on quality.
We’re incredibly proud of the WebSloth team that worked on this project. Their ability to deliver a high-quality application within such a compressed timeline is something that truly stands out.
A Platform Ready to Grow
Today, the LLO Caribbean platform serves as a central entry point for professionals looking to continue their development and expand their skills. By bringing together programs from multiple universities, the platform makes it easier for people across the Caribbean to discover new opportunities for learning and professional growth.
And for us at WebSloth, this project is a great example of what we enjoy most: working closely with partners to turn ambitious ideas into real, functioning digital products.
We’re excited to see how the platform evolves as more institutions and programs join the initiative.
